Define the Legacy You Live and Lead
The title on your business card, the seat at the head of the table and the role you play right now all came to you for a while.
One day, each one passes to someone else. Your legacy is the only thing you get to own.
Many of us end up with a haphazard set of actions we hope will add up to the legacy we want. We say we’re rooted in positivity and in supporting others, but then the week we lived tells a different story.
“Legacy is what people experience from us while we are here, just as much as what we leave at the end.”
Create Your Own Leadership Legacy Statement
By the last page, you’ll have your personal Leadership Legacy Statement written in your own words to return to every time a decision feels heavy.
01
Uncover what your life has been telling you
Look back further than you think, all the way to your formative years, and gather the clues every line of your statement is built on.
02
Write lines that sound like you
Each chapter takes you from messy notes to one clear sentence in 3 small steps called Jot, Circle and Choose.
03
Bring your legacy to the table
Every chapter ends with a question to ask the people you love, so your legacy becomes something your family talks about together.
EVERY ROLE IS HELD ON LEASE

FOUNDER OF SCARLET
Learn From Jacqueline Baker
I’m Jacqueline M. Baker, founder of Scarlet. 15 years ago I started teaching etiquette to teen girls in Detroit, because I wanted young people to feel confident in any room they walked into.
Before long, organizations I never expected started calling, from Deloitte and Nike to the Detroit Lions and the Department of Defense. They wanted their people to feel confident in the moments that matter.
Every time I taught young people, an adult in the back of the room would lean in and say they wanted to learn it too. Scarlet House is my answer to them, a family membership where every age keeps learning.
What People Say After Learning With Scarlet
“
Working with Jacqueline and Scarlet over the past several years has been a pleasure. They have a unique ability to truly connect with our students and provide them with valuable leadership and etiquette skills.
Christa Funk
“
I have been able to refresh my perspective on the possible, taking pause points to reflect and giving myself permission to be uncomfortable to level up.
Bella Field
“
Since my Scarlet days, I’ve held on to the invaluable lessons learned, keeping them close to my heart and at the top of my resume.
Evette Booker
“
I’m currently a senior in the Detroit Regional Dollars for Scholars Program. Since I attended the etiquette training, I felt prepared to come into this situation which made me feel more at ease. It was a good presentation that really stuck with me.

A NOTE FROM JACQUELINE
I know these are heavy questions.
When I first sat with them myself, I paused on the very first one. I should know what my life has been trying to tell me but I still wanted a minute to think.
Heavy questions deserve a gentle place to land. So I wrote this guide based on my own personal stories and in every chapter, I go first.
You’ll read about the empty chairs I’ve noticed at my own family’s table and the aunt who raised me from the age of 12. You’ll see why I’m so adamant about Sunday dinner, and why your favorite drink is already waiting at my door before you’ve taken off your coat.
Come to this guide exactly as you are.
I’ve stood on stages for the Detroit Lions, Deloitte, Nike and the Department of Defense, written 2 books and built a podcast with hundreds of episodes. Every one of those doors opened because I decided that I needed to just start and create my legacy.
So pour something warm, find a pen and give yourself an hour. I hope you love what you find, and I can’t wait to hear the first line you write.
Warmly,
Jacqueline
